FAQ
Planning a wedding is one of the most bittersweet moments of your life. It’s so stressful, at times frustrating, but oh so rewarding in the end – just like all worthwhile things in life. We know you will have questions coming up at all hours of the day, so we’ve compiled a few of the ones we hear most. Hopefully it helps. If not, feel free to shoot us an email. And really, even if it is, but you need someone’s brain to pick, shoot us one anyway! Q: How long will it take to get my dress? A: That depends. If you find something in our store that you absolutely, Have to, NEED to take home with you, I’d say two to four hours, max. However, most gowns will need to be ordered and tweaked to meet your every last need. THAT can take up to 7 months. Most gowns are made to order overseas. Then they have to pass through several inspections, not to mention customs before they reach our doorstep. Then consider any custom changes you may have added – that also adds more time. Q: Why doesn’t this dress fit me like a glove even though I custom ordered it? A: This one’s tricky, but stay with me. All manufacturers provide us with a size chart, or a template, from which they cut their dresses. We measure you to determine where you fall on that chart, without getting too small. Remember, these charts are based on mannequins & “ideal” bust to waist to hip ratios. Thus, no one will have the exact measurements of any particular size. (Or at least I’ve never known it to happen.) So we get as close as possible, and the seamstress handles the rest. Just when it seemed easy enough, I must add that no two manufacturers’ size charts are the same. So yes, you can be 4 different sizes according to 4 different companies. Q: I wear a size 6 at (insert favorite store name)! Why am I a 10 at your store? A: Remember those size charts I was talking about in the previous question? Did I forget to mention they are also based on sizing that originated, oh, say 322 years ago? Ha! I exaggerate, but there is truth. Did you know Marilyn Monroe was a size 12? But today, at (insert favorite store name) she’d be a size 4. It’s called vanity sizing, and most of the bridal/formal companies have yet to catch up to the trend. The philosophy is, “the smaller she thinks she is, the more she will buy.” Some of the larger bridal chains have adopted this marketing ploy. And yes, it has worked. But here’s how we see it: it’s merely a tag. No one sees it but you and your stylist. If you look amazing and can breathe (an asset on all days, not just your wedding day), WHO CARES WHAT SIZE YOU ARE? Enchanted Evening, as a retailer, has no control over how our manufacturers decide to “size”. So we just say, “if you’re normally a 10, expect your gown to be anywhere from an 8 to a 14.” Q: Why don’t you include alterations with your gown?
Q: Do you offer lay-a-way? A: Yes, we do. We offer several payment plans to suit your needs. 30% of the total purchase is the required lay-a-way deposit. Lay-a-way deposits are non-refundable, and are forfeited in the event of cancellation. Q: Do you rent or buy back dresses? A: Unfortunately, we do not. If you search our clearance and sale racks, you can find a beautiful gown for less than you’d invest in a rental! Q: What is your return policy?
A: In order to remain competitive, we do not add the cost of alterations into a gown. That would be unfair to those who need little to no alterations! Most of our brides choose to fully customize their dress anyway, which often times ends up less taxing and more affordable than the traditional alterations process. We also work hand-in-hand with a few seamstresses that we trust and refer to you.
A: All sales are final, period. Due to the seasonal sensitivity of our merchandise (not to mention sensitivity), we cannot offer returns on anything.
Q: How does the ordering process work?
A: 60% of the total purchase is due at time of ordering, regardless of product type. Deposit is forfeited if we hold up our end of the deal (on-time delivery, correct & undamaged product), but you change your mind.
Q: Why are your policies so strict?
A: Our policies about returns, refunds, shipping, etc., are the result of years of experience, and they help us to keep our standards high, our pricing fair, and to serve our customers to the best of our ability.
